What We Do
To accomplish its mission, PUENTES manages three programs that serve both LGBT youth and adults in the El Paso area.  These programs deliver education, outreach and advocacy by collaborating with law enforcement, schools, government agencies and social service providers.

EL PASO SAFE SCHOOLS

El Paso Safe Schools (EPSS) supports LGBTQ youth who are experiencing harassment and bullying in school.  EPSS accomplishes this by providing bullying intervention, building Gay-Straight Alliances, and sending LGBT speakers to classrooms.  In addition, EPSS trains schools on understanding and preventing anti-LGBT bullying.  For youth support or to request a training workshop, contact Youth Advocate Cristina Rivera at (915) 667-8453 or via email at crivera@puenteslgbt.org.

TRANSITIONS

Transitions provides assistance to LGBTQ youth between the ages of 16-21 in their transition from foster care to independent adult living. Transitions is housed at the P.R.I.D.E. DOMESTIC VIOLENCE PROGRAM

Domestic Violence Program assists LGBT persons foster healthy non-violent relationships with their partners and their families.  Below is a list of services provided.  Domestic Violence Program is housed at the Family Resource Center of the Center Against Family Violence on 580 Giles Rd.  For victim assistance, please contact Victim Advocate Sam Aguilera at (915) 595-2238 or via email at sam@puenteslgbt.org.

· Workshops on building healthy partner relationships

· Intervention for abusive domestic partners

· Support for victims of partner violence

· Intervention for families in conflict LGBT members
